Thanksgiving

A new season for every season: thankfulness

As the leaves change colour and the air turns crisp, we find ourselves in a new season. Today is Thanksgiving, [a very happy thanksgiving to my American and Canadian friends who observe the holiday]– a time for reflection, gratitude, and, most importantly, personal growth. Today in my peer group of Leadership we took time to reflect o how far we have come in a year and how/what/who we were grateful for in our peer group. It was something so beautiful and special that I think I want to observe the holiday myself every year!

It’s not the destination, it’s the journey, however…

Thanksgiving, at its heart, is a celebration of gratitude. It’s about recognising the abundance in our lives, from the food on our table to the people in our hearts. But gratitude isn’t just a once-a-year practice; it’s a mindset that can transform our daily lives [visit my post on TEAL, if you would like some more tips to incorporate gratitude into you daily life] . By actively practicing gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what we have, fostering a positive outlook that propels personal growth.

The wonderful Claudia shared today how on a recent trip through the Grand Canyon, when she looked in her mirrors, she recognised how beautiful the scenery was behind her as much as it was ahead of her, she stopped the car and paused to look back and the hindsight was even more outstanding than she first remembered only a few moments ago. Her insightful and key distinction: you can enjoy the journey, however – you need a destination.

And that, my dear reader, is what Waypoint Creation is all about! Setting a course to the destination with stops along the way, to reflect in order to refine, and continue to transform along the way and grow! If you decide to collaborate and co-elevate with me, the inspiration will be a natural by product for both of us [just as Claudia and all my peers did today] that will only encourage us to persist – through it all! The journey I have been on for the last year with my friends truly has been the most amazing TRIP of my lifetime so far!

The power of sharing

The harvest season, synonymous with Thanksgiving, teaches us a vital lesson in personal development: the fruits of today are the seeds sown yesterday. I’m certain you have heard the quote: ” When is the best time to plant a tree? 20 years ago! The second best time is now!”

Just as a bountiful harvest results from months of care and cultivation, our personal and professional growth is the outcome of our consistent efforts. This Thanksgiving, let’s commit to sowing seeds of hard work, perseverance, and continuous learning for a future of abundant growth.

Thanksgiving is also about sharing – sharing a meal, sharing stories, and sharing love. Be it with family, chosen family or colleagues. In our personal growth journey, sharing plays a vital role, as demonstrated above. When we share our knowledge, experiences, and time with others, we not only enrich their lives but also gain new perspectives, enhance our understanding, and build meaningful relationships that contribute to our own growth. I doubt I would have altered my blog schedule today if we hadn’t stopped to share.

The perfect time to…

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pause and reflect on the past year, and, to set new goals for the future. Acknowledge the challenges you’ve overcome and celebrate the lessons learned. The perfect prayer is one of thanks, we express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives. It is also the perfect time to be thankful for the potential within us to grow more, be more, thrive more and learn more. This thanksgiving I encourage you to renew your commitment to yourself, and to set a new waypoint for next year, to be even more thankful for for all you have and who you are!
